Polaroid Self Portrait by northengirl Polaroid Self Portrait by northengirl
Apart of my Photography GCSE - Portraiture.

Exploring the idea that the places I grew up in and live in make me who I am today.
My enviroment shapes my personality, my likes, my accent - everything.

Each image is taken in a part of the area in which I live in - Bradford.
I was born here and I grew up here. I'm even proud to be from here!

Places taken in:

City Centre
My School
The Moors
My Room
A Coffee/book shop
My Bathroom
On The Train

I think that's all.

Taken with a Image Polaroid camera. I used this camera becuase I love the
imperfections - it also suited the idea I was trying to achieve. Polaroids seems more
personal and real than most photographic forms.

Also, the imperfections kinda reflect that everyone of us has imperfections,
they are apart of our personality.

I forgot to ask, who took these gorgeous pictures ? Personally I was the only one who could handle my Polaroid camera, if my fiance took my photo, it would be only my left ear or the top of my head would turn out.

I love Polaroids. Sure, the filmpacks are dead expensive, but it made us caution more with the compositions.

Oh what the heck, spending the films are so fun !

so many great shots rolled into one... that doesn't do them justice.. but still, a great work.
the first shot where you're sleeping is great lighting, and seems so spontaneous and cute at the same time.
the yellowish mirror shot has masterful composition and great tones.
at the end of the row is a darkish shot with a grabbing atmosphere.
below it is another favourite of mine, the giggling girl autoportrait.. nice work with that and the color overylay. (i had stuff like that when light leaked in the camera)

I'm a fan of this portrait and the way you decided to show parts of your personality..these polaroids express some
chaotic feelings that you have while wandering alone in the city..
it's like the moment when you fall asleep and you're between two worlds- between reality and imagination.
you close your eyes and you see fragments of situations and shapes you remember after this tiresome day..

truly a talent, not to mention you have a lot of experience with the polaroids and how to manipulate them to your want. Fav shots are the top:middle and 3rd row(from top) last shot. They seem similar.

The idea is universal that anyone can relate. The composition is good and unique which truely does identify to your artistry. I like the hues and the views. And at some point it makes me like you (pulling a fast one hahahaha! but well it's true even though I never have met you). The polaroids give this feeling of being more natural, a feeling of reality.

Bakit kasi ngayon ko lnag nakita to! (Why only now did I see this!) This is one of my favs of the year!!!

A beautiful glimps into the life of someone from another part of the world... thank you for posting this! it is immensely intreguing and beautiful. It brings tints and moods and emotions to the table in a way I don't often see. You are right in using the Polaroid... its imperfections suit this style very well. i have been to the UK, but that was about ten years ago and I had not yet discovered photography. I hope to visit again soon... Keep up the good work!

Lovely, diverse Polaroid portrait collage. I think Polaroids lend themselves to this kind of presentation by virtue of their design - lots of "visual fragments" inevitably pieced together to create a greater story. Your portraits are cozy, down-to-earth, occasionally lonely, and in awe of their own space. We get a sense of where you find yourself and where you place yourself, and both are interchangeable. I'd have to pick the left-most polaroids on the top two rows as my favorites - both have a warm child-like air to them.

Great collage - I will fav. :-)

I must agree there is something more real about a polaroid, knowing it cannot be digitally tinkered with, the instant pic.

Nicely built portrait.
